SIU 2026 Student Travel Grant Applications

The 34rd IEEE Conference on Signal Processing and Communications Applications (SIU 2026) offers a limited number of travel grants to students attending the conference. This grant program aims to partially cover travel and conference attendance expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants wishing to benefit from the SIU 2026 student grants must meet the following conditions:

  1. Must attend SIU 2026 with an accepted paper.
  2. Must be forced to cover most or all of the conference participation expenses on own funds due to lack of sufficient alternative funding.
  3. In special cases, recent graduates with demonstrated financial need may also be considered.

Priority will be given to applicants who:

  1. Are the first author of an accepted paper at SIU 2026.
  2. Will present their accepted paper personally at the conference.
  3. Attend from economically disadvantaged or geographically distant regions

Application Requirements

Applications should be submitted via Google Forms at:

All application materials must be merged into a single PDF file and include the following items:

  1. Application Letter (max. 1 page): Clearly state the purpose of travel, estimated travel expenses, and a declaration that financial support from other sources has not been obtained. Clearly describe your financial need for the grant.
  2. Current CV (max. 1 page): Include educational background and work experience, if applicable.
  3. Statement of Purpose (max. 1 page): This should be written by the applicant student and must include:
    1. Brief summary of your research areas, academic interests, and achievements.
    2. A short statement explaining the importance of conference participation for your academic development.
    3. Title and paper ID of your accepted SIU 2026 paper, if applicable.
  4. Recommendation Letter from Advisor: The advisor’s letter must include:
    1. Confirmation of good academic standing of the student.
    2. Relevance of SIU 2026’s program content to the student’s research area.
    3. Benefits the student will obtain by attending the conference.
    4. Strengths and potential contributions of the student.
    5. Advisor’s confirmation that no alternative travel funding is available.

Incomplete or non-compliant applications will not be considered.

Evaluation Process

Applications will be reviewed by a volunteer committee based on the following criteria:

  1. Economic conditions and geographical distance of the applicant’s region.
  2. Quality and review scores of the accepted paper.
  3. Specific circumstances mentioned in the application and advisor’s evaluation.

Coverage and Payment Method

Grants will be provided as:

  1. Full or partial reimbursement of the conference registration fee, and/or
  2. Complimentary accommodation in dormitories.
